About

Dear Reader,

llifeBoheme is a lifestyle blog ‘zine for second wave boomers, leading edge boomers and people, places and events of interest.

About the publisher of lifeBoheme

mother.jpgMy 10th grade English teacher told me to write what I know and in retrospect these many years since, my writing has reflected the current stage of life I found myself.

When my children were young, I completed a series of parenting skills courses through the Oregon State University Master Parent program and became certified to teach parenting skills. I took that training and wrote, published and distributed a parenting skills newsletter to school districts, churches and social service organizations. In addition, I visited grade school classrooms to help school-age children publish their own literary and art ‘zine.

While researching the effects of alcoholism and addiction on family members and friends of addicts, I started a website for family members affected by alcoholics and addicts. In 1996, there were few online resources for family and friends.

In midlife, I stopped to evaluate the paths I had taken in my 20s and 30s, assess the goals I had reached and the ones I had fallen short of reaching, and learned that what matters most in life springs from the simplest of moments and the lifestyle of simple living. Celebrating daily life with family and friends, creating a comfortable home, and connecting to the seasons and nature are deeply rich and perfectly complete.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I started to launch a website and blog for cancer survivors, when I was invited to write cancer-related posts for one of the most successful blogging networks out here.

During my one-year contract as the Life Sciences lead blogger, I wrote 470,618 words in a total of 1,700 cancer-related posts. Hopefully as a result of the opportunity offered to me by Jason Calacanis, Judith Meskill, and Brad Hill to write for Weblogs Inc.’s The Cancer Blog, I was able to offer relevant information and a hopeful perspective to those facing cancer.

Because I was born between 1954 and 1964 I am a second wave boomer. As part of the boomer generation, I have come to a time in my life when aging, aging well, savoring each day and leaving this world a better place for all of our children and grandchildren captures most of my current attention.

lifeBoheme is a natural evolution in my writing and interests. Thank you for visiting and welcome to lifeBoheme.

Respectfully and humbly yours,
Dalene Entenmann
