pinkberry.jpgPinkberry. Heard of it?

If you live in, or have visited Southern California or New York, perhaps you have visited the frozen yogurt dessert shop that has gained an almost cult-like following.

It has been reported (although I am not certain how serious to take this one) that Pinkberry groupies refer to the frozen yogurt dessert as Crackberry.

At the Pinkberry website there is a Groupies Corner where the Pinkberry devoted can sign up as an official Pinkberry groupie.

If you have not been to a Pinkberry store, it looks like the upscale frozen dessert chain Pinkberry may be coming to a town near you.

Pinkberry recently received an influx of cash from from Starbuck’s founder Howard Schultz’s Seattle-based venture capital firm Maveron, according to Fortune. Schultz is quoted as saying in a press release that Pinkberry founders Shelly Hwang and Young Lee are visionary entrepreneurs and labeled their brand a cultural phenomenon.

In case you haven’t heard of Pinkberry — and if Pinkberry ends up being the Starbucks of frozen yogurt dessert, with a Pinkberry in every neighborhood — this is the scoop on Pinkberry.

Pinkberry describes itself as a swirly goodness of dessert reinvented. Pinkberry original and green tea yogurt desserts contain no preservatives, additives, or excess sugar. Some of dessert topping include fresh berries — blackberry, blueberry raspberry, and strawberry; banana, kiwi, mango, and pineapple; granola, yogurt chips, sliced almonds; and Cocoa or Fruity Pebbles cereal.

In addition to the frozen yogurt with a choice of toppings, there is the Pinkberry Smoothie and Green Tea Smoothie. Pinkberry Shaved Ice comes with plain frozen yogurt, shaved ice, sweet rice cake, house syrup, strawberries, banana, kiwi, pineapples and Green Tea Shaved Ice comes with green tea, frozen yogurt, shaved ice, sweet rice cake, house syrup, and kiwi.

To learn more about Pinkberry, visit the Pinkberry website. When you arrive, you will be greeted by the Pinkberry theme by Lady Tigra. In the event Pinkberry arrives in your town, you will be in the Pinkberry know.

In our opinion, Pinkberry certainly qualifies as a food of comfort goodness.
