Mae Laborde: New career at 93
October 9, 2007
What can you do at 93? Mae Laborde felt it was time to try something new. And thus began a career in acting.
At 98, Hollywood actress Laborde has appeared in the comedy movie The Pineapple Express; Mad TV as an elderly Vanna White still turning letters for the game show Wheel of Fortune, Fox comedy’s Talkshow with Spike Feresten as a solar powered cue card person; and a Lexus commercial.
Entertainment television show Access Hollywood aired the feature story of Laborde on Memorial Day, sharing a bit of Laborde’s life history. Married for 49 years to her late husband Nicholas, she has resided in the same Santa Monica, California home since 1935. Laborde is the grandmother to six great grandchildren.
For anyone who finds themselves in the midst of a midlife crisis, or in their 50s or 60s, thinking the best years are behind them, Laborde proves they could not be more wrong. At 98, Laborde is a delight and a delightful reminder, it’s never to late to follow a dream or try something new.
