November 13, 2007

john-lithgow-bedtime-story.gifTo celebrate National Young Readers Day and encourage parents to read bedtime stories to their children, John Lithgow will be featured in America’s Biggest Bedtime Story webcast reading of The Remarkable Farkle McBride!

America’s Biggest Bedtime Story is part of a campaign by Pizza Hut’s BOOK IT! National Reading Incentive Program. According to a survey conducted by Pizza Hut, 49 percent of the children in this country are not being read a story at bedtime. Taking as little as 20 minutes at bedtime to read a book to a child has a significant and positive effect on how well they do in school.

Now in its 22nd year, the BOOK IT! program estimates 22 million children will take part in the program this year beginning in October and ending in March. Not only does the BOOK IT! program encourage parents to instill a love for reading by reading to their children through the America’s Biggest Bedtime Story campaign, the organization works with teachers in helping students set and reach reading goals during the school year. Students who reach their monthly goal are awarded a certificate for a free Personal Pan Pizza.

Information about America’s Biggest Bedtime Story with special guest John Lithgow webcast, airing at 4pm CST and available for viewing all night, can be found on the BOOK IT! webpage.
