JK Rowling: The Tales of Beedle the Bard after Harry Potter
November 2, 2007
Legendary waif wizard Harry Potter’s JK Rowling has finished her first book after the completion of the Harry Potter series, although few JK Rowling Potter fans are likely to read it. The Tales of Beedle the Bard will be a very limited edition with a grand total of seven copies in print. The Tales of Beedle the Bard is a collection of five magical fairy stories illustrated with drawings and handwritten text by Rowling.
In December, six will go as gifts and one will be auctioned to benefit the children’s charity The Children’s Voice. The Tales of Beedle the Bard book up for auction is bound in brown morocco leather and mounted with silver and semiprecious stones. Starting price at auction for the very limited edition of the book will begin at $62,000 dollars.
According to a statement by Rowling,
“The Tales of Beedle the Bard is really a distillation of the themes found in the Harry Potter books, and writing it has been the most wonderful way to say goodbye to a world I have loved and lived in for 17 years.”
In addition to the now completed The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Rowling is at work on an encyclopedia of Harry Potter’s world.
