Steal A Base. Steal A Taco. During the World Series, if a base is stolen Taco Bell will offer every person in the US a free Crunchy Seasoned Beef Taco.
According to the official rules: Only one free taco per person, regardless of how many eligible bases are stolen during the Games. In the event the Games are not played on October 24-November 1, 2007, the offer will be good during any Games of the 2007 MLB World Series to be announced.
No purchase is necessary. The free Crunchy Seasoned Beef Taco will be given away on these dates only: Tuesday, October 30, 2007 (if base is stolen in Games 1 or 2 on October 24 or October 25, 2007); November 6, 2007 (if base is stolen in Games 3-7, October 27, 28, 29, 31, November 1, 2007). To obtain the free taco, consumers must visit any participating Taco Bell restaurant in one of the 50 the United States or District of Columbia between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. (local time) on the Redemption Date only and request a Free Crunchy Seasoned Beef Taco.

The Coca Cola Company is branching out into the possibility of developing health drinks with the opening of a research center at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in Beijing.
Among the chinese herbs and traditional chinese medicine formulas of interest are chrysanthemum and myrobalan, a prune-like fruit rich in antioxidants. The new research center is housed within the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, the national center for research, health care and education in traditional Chinese medicine.

While Marie Osmond stood next to her Dancing with the Stars dance partner Jonathan Roberts in front of the judges, Marie collapsed and lay lifeless on the floor.
Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron bend down over Marie and after a few moments the show cut to commercial. When Dancing with the Stars came back after commercial break, Bergeron told the studio audience and TV viewers that Osmond had fainted but was doing well. He shared when the 48 year old Osmond came to and looked up from the floor to see people over her, her first words were “Oh crap.”

The Leaky Caludron has published a transcript of JK Rowling’s meet up with the Scholastic’s Open Book Tour sweepstakes one thousand grand prize winners and their guests at New York City’s Carnegie Hall.
Rowling read from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and answered questions from Harry Potter fans. Among the new revelations include the fact that Rowling’s Albus Dumbledore is gay.
From the transcript Rowling explains:
“Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was. To an extent, do we say it excused Dumbledore a little more because falling in love can blind us to an extend, but he met someone as brilliant as he was, and rather like Bellatrix he was very drawn to this brilliant person, and horribly, terribly let down by him.”

The Sweetest Day is observed each year on the third Saturday in October as an act of kindness and an opportunity to remember orphans, the sick and the homebound. Today, the Sweetest Day has evolved as a means of expressing our appreciation for family, friends and coworkers in addition to remembering the less fortunate and perhaps disenfranchised members of our community.
A candy company employee named Herbert Birch Kingston is attributed with the origin of the Sweetest Day. In 1922, over 20,000 boxes of candy were given to street urchins, newsboys, orphans, the aged, and the poor in Cleveland, Ohio.
According to Wikipedia, the origin of Sweetest Day attributed to Kingston may not be as accurate as believed.

The Colbert Report: Colbert for President

Appearing on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert announced he was considering a run for president in the 2008 presidential election. However, Colbert went on to say that the official announcement would be made, if made, on a more prestigious show.
Fifteen minutes later, on The Colbert Report, Colbert made the official announcement that he will indeed be running for president in the 2008 presidential election.
“I shall seek the office of the president of the United States,” announced Colbert. He will run as both a Democrat and Republican. Colbert also intends on confining his campaign to South Carolina.
Possible running mates? Huckabee, Putin or Colbert-Colbert. Colbert believes the third choice, Colbert-Colbert, to be the strongest ticket. How far will Colbert be able to go in his presidential run? Colbert has, in the past, been able to mobilize Colbert Nation into various campaigns unrelated to politics. This should be interesting, and definitely entertaining.

Pinkberry. Heard of it?
If you live in, or have visited Southern California or New York, perhaps you have visited the frozen yogurt dessert shop that has gained an almost cult-like following.
It has been reported (although I am not certain how serious to take this one) that Pinkberry groupies refer to the frozen yogurt dessert as Crackberry.
At the Pinkberry website there is a Groupies Corner where the Pinkberry devoted can sign up as an official Pinkberry groupie.
If you have not been to a Pinkberry store, it looks like the upscale frozen dessert chain Pinkberry may be coming to a town near you.

Led Zeppelin: download music concert reunion

Late to the digital download music party, one of the first heavy metal rock bands Led Zeppelin will finally begin selling its music online. Beginning November 13, the complete catalog of Led Zeppelin albums will be available for download as well as ring tones and full song downloads from Verizon Wireless.
Led Zeppelin will get together for a reunion performance on November 26 in London at The O2 as a tribute to the late founder of Atlantic Records Ahmet Ertegun and to aid the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund. Ertegun signed Led Zeppelin in 1968 shortly after the band was formed by members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham. Led Zeppelin disbanded after the death of Bonham in 1980.
Featured supporting acts at The 02 tribute concert will be Foreigner, Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, and Paolo Nutini.
